How to vote by mail in 2025

It’s time to send in your application for a mail-in ballot for 2025!  Here’s what you need to know.

If you are eligible for a mail-in ballot, you must apply for one EVERY YEAR, a requirement of Texas law.  Even if you had one in 2024, you have to apply again now.

Mail-in Ballot Eligibility

You are eligible to vote by mail in Texas if you are registered to vote at your current address and

  • 65 years or older, or

  • sick or disabled, or

  • out of the county on Election Day and during the period for Early Voting, or

  • expect to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day, or

  • are confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.

Mail-in Ballot Application

To vote by mail, you must first apply for a ballot and you must apply through the US Mail.

The Denton County Elections office does not send out applications or ballots without a specific request from the voter. Denton Elections must receive your application no later than the close of business 11 days before Election Day. â€‹
